County medical care facilities issue $14,000 in college scholarships around Michigan
LANSING, MICH. — The Michigan County Medical Care Facilities Council, a coalition of 34 county-owned facilities across the state, has announced the recipients of its 2024 Gary Easton MCMCFC Scholarship Awards.
Fourteen people were chosen to receive $1,000 scholarships in 2024. Recipients must be enrolled in a health-related program and be an employee of a Medical Care Facility (MCF) or related to an employee.
“Wow! We had so many great applications this year,” said Scholarship Committee Chair Gary Easton, a former medical care facility administrator. “This year, we were able to award 67 percent more scholarship dollars than we did in 2023. We are so proud to be able to support so many deserving students who are the future of long-term care.”
In May 2000, the council created a scholarship fund called the MCMCFC Scholarship Fund. In 2018, this fund was renamed the Gary Easton MCMCFC Scholarship Fund.
Between these two scholarships, the Council has now awarded nearly $210,000 in scholarship monies benefiting approximately 230 students.
